Representatives of the DASH team are headed to Trainfest 2013 this weekend, and we hope to see you there alongside more than 25,000 fellow railroaders!
You're sure to enjoy the convention if you're the least bit interest in model trains, because it might just be the best of its kind. If you're not so sure it's worth the trip and need more information about the show, check out the full details in the following press release and promotional video.
Experience the Best of the Model Railroading Hobby at Trainfest®, America’s Largest Operating Model Railroad Show
Explore four football fields of over 60 running model railroads, top manufacturers and kids’ activities at Trainfest, the nation's premier model railroading event, November 9 & 10 in Milwaukee, WI.
Trainfest®, America’s Largest Operating Model Railroad Show, is the nation’s premier model railroading event. Trainfest is designed for train fans of all ages, from youngsters to the young at heart, who come to enjoy the best the model railroading hobby has to offer. Join us November 9 & 10, 2013 at the Expo Center, at WI State Fair Park in Milwaukee, WI for this 42nd annual event.
“Trainfest is a one-of-a-kind show where families are welcomed and can enjoy a fun-filled day together and be a part of something really fun and very unique,” said Trainfest Executive Director John H Tews, MMR. “The sheer number and diversity of railroads we have at Trainfest makes our show special, but it’s truly the craftsmanship, amazing detail and creativity poured into these railroads that brings them to life. It’s really spectacular to experience.”
Craftsmanship on Display
November is National Model Railroading Month and for many model railroad clubs across the country, Trainfest is the annual coming together of friends, an occasion to showcase craftsmanship and the opportunity to educate others about the model railroading hobby. It’s the only place in the WORLD to experience so many scales and operating railroads under one roof. Two-thirds of the expansive 200,000 square foot hall is filled with remarkable operating railroads from around the globe. Trainfest has something for everyone--from a railroad in a suitcase to mega layouts measuring 60’x80’ and from tiny Z scale on up to large G scale (garden railroads) and all popular scales in between. Several exhibitors bring model railroads intended to let kids learn how to “run the trains.”
A Family Hobby
Trainfest is a family friendly weekend full of trains and fun including the Trainfest Kids’ Activity Zone. Returning favorites to the Kids’ Zone are the highly popular Thomas the Tank Engine® inflatable bounce house, 8’ long wooden train tables for kids to play with, and acoustic performances by Choo Choo Bob and the Holy Smokestacks Revue. Sunday only a balloon entertainer will be at Trainfest from 10am – 4pm. Plus, children can build with LEGO® bricks, ride a circus train replica or race trains on the dog-bone shaped track brought by Midwest TCA.
The Trainfest Experience
Trainfest, a 42 year tradition, is America’s largest operating model railroad show under one roof. The annual two-day public event attracts over 24,000 visitors who come to learn about the hobby of model railroading. Trainfest 2013 is Nov. 9 & 10th and will host more than 60 operating railroads, 100 manufacturers and hobby dealers, 10 historical groups, artists, displays, on-site clinics and demos. Trainfest, a non-profit organization, is sponsored by the Wisconsin Southeastern Division, Inc. of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA). Trainfest is held at the Exposition Center, WI State Fair Park, 8200 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis, WI 53214. Adult admission $ 12 (online coupons available), kids (4-12) $ 5 at door or free with online coupon, kids 3 & under always free. Visit http://www.trainfest.com for admission coupons and show info.
We definitely think it's worth the trip, and that's why we'll be there. Keep an eye out for DASH's one-of-a-kind shirts on the show floor, and don't be too shy to stop and say hello. We'll be in awe of the amazing layouts, huge crowds, and countless manufacturers' booths at the show just like you will!
