Big at the Boxcar Office: Train Grit

Something about dusty western layouts evokes a sense of wonder and grandeur, and I haven't seen many layouts more grand or wonderful than this trip through the wild west which has earned the "box office" treatment.

This wonderful layout at the Greeley Freight Station Museum is unbelievably true-to-life, but isn't short on lush scenery and whimsical landscape features to give it extra "pop" alongside all the realism. It balances the gritty reality of the west with a true sense of adventure much like the classic movie True Grit. It's well worth your time to take a trip through this magnificent layout.

Train Grit

This layout is amazing! There is a ridiculous depth with track after track stretching toward the wall, tons variety in both height and landscape, and so many different trains running simultaneously! The huge scope of it all is overwhelming, but it still manages to convey an unmatched sense of detail with every square inch. That's the perfect combination that creates a mesmerizing viewing experience. It's easy to forget you're just viewing a model train, and even easier to feel like you've taken a trip out west.

I can't imagine many layouts more impressive than this one, but we'd still love to see your very own layout on your Collection Showcase page. If it's half as good as this one, it'll still be jaw-dropping! You can also share your favorite layout videos from around the web in the comments below, and we might share them right here in the next edition of Big at the Boxcar Office!
