Every railroader's favorite time of year is the Christmas season. We're taken back to years of old when new trains awaited us underneath the tree. And now we're able to surround our own trees with a train of our own, like these latest products from Lionel.

This season marks the introduction of several new Christmas items in our American Flyer S Gauge line. These trains will be perfect for starting or expanding your collection and Christmas displays.
Dockside Steam Locomotive
Whether it is busy shifting cars at the North Pole workshops or endlessly coming ’round the tree, this 0-6-0 Dockside switcher will look great hauling your Christmas cars. The locomotive features transformer-controlled forward-neutral-reverse operation, directional headlight and backup light, puffing smoke, operating front and rear couplers, powerful maintenance-free motor and traction tires.
The colorful tank engine retails for $ 94.99 and, like all of the cars shown here, will negotiate an S-36 minimum curve.

Christmas Mint Car
For the first time in S Gauge, the classic “mint car” comes to the Christmas line. Santa’s checking his list to see who will receive the coal and who gets the presents seen inside the car’s big windows.

Cylindrical Covered Hopper
For the scale-minded modeler, our new cylindrical covered hopper will bring some Christmas cheer to your display. Filled with sugar for “Mrs Claus Sugar Plums and Confections” and decorated for the season this car combines the whimsy of the holidays with the detail and features of our 1:64 scale freight cars.
The covered hopper features die-cast trucks with scale wheels and operating couplers. For those who use other couplers, the truck-mounted couplers are designed for easy removal and mounting locations for scale couplers are provided on the car. The car also features many separately applied metal detail parts including the see-through tread walkways around the top.

If you're into holiday-themed trains, you ought to be giddy after seeing these! They might not be realistic and they're definitely a little goofy, but they are indisputably Christmasy. I love the Mint Car that features a load of coal for the naughty boy and girls! The North Pole Express locomotive is actually a very sharp train, as is the Sugar Plums & Confections hopper seen directly above.
