Closer Look at MTH's Newest Locomotives

There's nothing I like more than checking out all the latest trains from my favorite manufacturers. MTH certainly makes that list, and they've left me speechless once again with closer looks at four amazing new locomotives.

We've got brand new images and fresh details on four unbelievable trains from MTH. They've been photographed in full glory on MTH's in-house layout, making them look more realistic and visually stunning than you can imagine. Without further delay, dive into these awesome trains below.

MTH Premier Pennsylvania J1 2-10-4

As World War II traffic increased across it's Pittsburgh Division the Pennsylvania Railroad knew it needed more steam power to meet the demands of freight traffic in 1942. Pennsylvania J Class 2-10-4 was created from borrowed plans of a proven Chesapeake & Ohio Steam Locomotive. 125 Pennsylvania J Class locomotive were built in Pennsylvania's famed Altoona Shops from 1942 to 1944. Capture a bit of history on your layout with the MTH Premier Pennsylvania J1 2-10-4 in-stock at MTH.

MTH Premier Southern Pacific 4-8-4 GS-4 Steam Engine

The MTH Premier O Gauge Production Sample for the Southern Pacific 4-8-4 GS-4 Steam Engine came in this week. Featured in the 2013 Volume 2 Catalog the 4-8-4 GS-4 and GS-6 come in three Southern Pacific paint schemes and one Western Pacific. All these 4-8-4 Steam Locomotives come with Proto-Sound 3.0 in both Hi-Rail Wheels (3-Rail) and Scale Wheel (2-Rail) versions.

MTH Premier O Gauge 4-6-6-4 Challenger Steam Engines

At the car shed this morning we have the in-stock MTH Premier O Gauge 4-6-6-4 Challenger Steam Engine in Union Pacific (Two-Tone Gray w/Silver Stripe) 20-3478-1 and Clinchfield 20-3479-1 road names.

I don't know how they do it, but MTH manages to keep topping their last set of trains. These Premier Line beauties take realistic details and stunning decos to another level entirely. The Southern Pacific GS-4 looks sharp in its orange dress, while the Challengers convey a deceptive realism thanks to their intricate designs and perfect layers of features. Any railroader would be lucky to have any of these locomotives.
