As Halloween approaches, things start getting a little spookier. Ghost, goblins, and ghouls could be lingering behind every corner, and now Lionel even has us worried about aliens with their latest product spotlight.
Not all railroaders are into the fun side of toy trains, but those who are will love Lionel's latest look into their line. It takes the spooky conspiracy of Area 51 and brings it to train tracks across America with this exciting little set. Check out all the details and photos below.
New Product Spotlight – Area 51 LionChief Remote Set
A few minutes of play with this new set will have you saying, “This new LionChief Remote is out of this world!” The combination of the train and sounds are sure to make this set the center of speculation on any layout.
Perhaps the worst-kept “secret base” in history, the actual happenings around a small corner of the Edwards Air Force base near Groom Lake, NV have been the subject of much controversy for more than 50 years. From conspiracy theories to sci-fi movies, the pop culture impact of Area 51 has been enormous and probably won’t fade away any time soon. Bring some of that excitement down to your train platform with this new set.
The Area 51 set includes an RS-3, flatcar with space capsules, waffle-side boxcar, work caboose, 40″x50″ FasTrack oval, power supply and remote control. The highlight of the set will no doubt be the new LionChief RS-3 with its many sound features and remote control. You can toggle back and forth between realistic locomotive sounds with the diesel engine, horn and bell and outer-worldly sounds which simply have to be heard to be believed.

I don't think anyone has spotted a real life version of this train making its way through Nevada late at night, but who cares about realism! This is an incredibly entertaining set, with a really unique theme and vibrant color scheme. The add-on tank car and hilariously-subtle alien-themed billboard are perfect accessories. The locomotive is full of great modern features and will enable kids (or adults) to have even more fun with the set.
Does anyone out there have a UFO built into their layout? That's something I'd love to see! Until I find someone who does, I'll be keeping my eyes out for this set on the DASH Marketplace.
